  • Residents near Milla Vista Park say trespassing and trash dumping have raised no-dumping concerns and fire-hazard worries on private land. The Minot Park District will add more boundary signs to clarify park limits and help neighbors keep their areas safe.  Minot Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • A New Town man, Samuel Joseph Jackson, 21, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to five felony counts for fentanyl offenses in North Central District Court and received a deferred sentence with three years of supervised probation—he is required to live in a sober living program for two years and pay $775 in fines.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Minot campus said they are keeping their plan the same after a judge in New York put a hold on a nationwide Job Corps pause—staff are still sending students home, checking their inventory, and linking them with housing help.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Minot Police Department added Comfort K9 Freya—donated by Bluegrass Bernedoodles after handler Sgt. Caisee Sandusky met the breeder at the IACP Officer Safety and Wellness Conference and Freya completed training at Tandem Dog Training—to support officer mental health and community investigations. She earned three American Kennel Club certifications and a First Response K9 certification in Ohio and was sworn in at City Hall, with a $7,500 grant from the Community Endowment Fund assisting with her care.  Minot Daily News
  • Residents in east Minot met with engineering experts on Thursday at the Minot Municipal Auditorium to learn how the planned phase of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project will affect their neighborhood—engineers explained that four residences would be acquired and the nearby Burdick Bridge would be adjusted to include pedestrian pathways. The design, now 60% complete and under review by state and federal agencies, indicates a $52 million project that will be bid next spring and is scheduled to start construction in 2026.  Minot Daily News
  • Minot city council approved using $300,000 from cash reserves to extend door-to-door transit services with Souris Basin Transportation through the end of the year after the original contract was set to expire next month. Some council members questioned the plan’s long-term sustainability—adding concerns about the shift to federal urban transit funding.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot AFB will hold an open house on June 14 with static displays, flybys by B-1 and B-52 aircraft, and a tour inside a B-52, as well as pylon loading demonstrations and interactive exhibits; the south gate opens at 8 a.m., the open house runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., and base access ends at 2 p.m.—visitors must show valid ID for security.  Minot Daily News
  • Gov. Kelly Armstrong has appointed Minot attorney Steven Lautt to an open judgeship in the North Central Judicial District after Judge Douglas Mattson retired on June 1. Lautt—who has practiced law with Pringle & Herigstad since 2012 and holds leadership roles in local legal groups—will fill the vacancy chambered in Minot.  Minot Daily News
