- ➤ A New Town man, Samuel Joseph Jackson, 21, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to five felony counts for fentanyl offenses in North Central District Court and received a deferred sentence with three years of supervised probation—he is required to live in a sober living program for two years and pay $775 in fines. - ➤ Minot Police Department added Comfort K9 Freya—donated by Bluegrass Bernedoodles after handler Sgt. Caisee Sandusky met the breeder at the IACP Officer Safety and Wellness Conference and Freya completed training at Tandem Dog Training—to support officer mental health and community investigations. She earned three American Kennel Club certifications and a First Response K9 certification in Ohio and was sworn in at City Hall, with a $7,500 grant from the Community Endowment Fund assisting with her care. - ➤ Residents in east Minot met with engineering experts on Thursday at the Minot Municipal Auditorium to learn how the planned phase of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project will affect their neighborhood—engineers explained that four residences would be acquired and the nearby Burdick Bridge would be adjusted to include pedestrian pathways. The design, now 60% complete and under review by state and federal agencies, indicates a $52 million project that will be bid next spring and is scheduled to start construction in 2026. - ➤ Minot city council approved using $300,000 from cash reserves to extend door-to-door transit services with Souris Basin Transportation through the end of the year after the original contract was set to expire next month.
