ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota recorded 85 traffic deaths in 2025, the lowest count since 1996, as Vision Zero & partners met this week to review safety measures while officials warn that 2026 figures may rise. KFYR-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Northwest Arts Center on the MSU campus is hosting its annual Capstone Exhibition 'Intersecting Narratives' by six students, with works on display at Walter Piehl Gallery until June 5. - ➤ Burke Central eighth-grader Ivanna Perez completed the illustrations for reporter Lindsey Miller’s second book, The Girl in Lime Green Jeans: Reigns as Rodeo Queen, which is available now and features Perez’s work on the cover. - ➤ Minot State University will hold its 111th commencement exercise on Friday, May 15 at the MSU Dome and begin with a Hooding Ceremony for master’s students (at 8 a.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall) before alumni and current students deliver speeches. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Minot State University nursing student Chris Cebulak will graduate on Friday, May 15 and begin an intensive care internship at Trinity Hospital this summer. He plans to remain in the local community after earning his nurse’s license. Minot Daily News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Census Bureau estimates released today show Minot’s population is stable at 47,308 for the year ended July 1, 2025, up 31 from last year. New house construction began in a northwest neighborhood, and nearby Burlington and Surrey are also growing. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Minot High junior Chinagozi Ugobi set a personal best of 35 ft, 10 in during her triple jump at the Minot Invite on May 8 at Duane Carlson Stadium. She qualifies for state and will compete at the WDA Meet on May 16 + the state meet starting May 21. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Minot North lost twice to Bismarck High on May 12 after an early game lead, and the Demons secured the third seed while the Sentinels must host a play-in game against Watford City to reach the WDA Tournament. Minot Daily News
