Ice skaters in Minot are making the most of outdoor rinks during school break as parks offer a holiday schedule for warming houses.

The warming houses run from noon to 9 p.m. today + are set to open on Jan. 2 and Jan. 19 at various rink locations.

On Sunday, about 2,800 customers lost power in Minot and Xcel Energy crews worked to restore service — full restoration was expected by 5:30 p.m. in Ward County.

Oliver Schaefer from Minot was nominated by Sen. Kevin Cramer to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

Schaefer, a track and cross country athlete at Des Lacs Burlington High School, was named along with Grand Forks' Cormac Dunnick on Friday, Dec. 26 as candidates for service academy appointments.

Mountain Pacific of Helena and QHA of Minot announced a plan to strengthen quality support services for local health care providers.

The groups will work together in the coming months to share data-driven strategies using their 100+ years of combined experience.

Ana Giese, with 40 years of environmental services experience, has been promoted to director at Trinity Health.

She will oversee team operations, manage laundry and cleaning functions, and coordinate efforts with other departments to maintain a safe, clean facility.
