- ➤ On Dec. 8, 1941, The Minot Daily News reported that following the Dec. 7 Pearl Harbor attack, Congress declared war on Japan, local telegrams canceled soldiers’ furloughs, and long-time Japanese residents (many of whom had lived in Minot for decades) affirmed their loyalty to the United States. - ➤ Arrowhead Cleaners and Laundry opened a new shop on 24th Ave SW near Dakota Square Mall to serve Minot residents with dry cleaning, laundry, wedding gown care & a digital tracking system. The service fills a long-standing need and may expand into a full-scale facility soon. KFYR-TV

- ➤ Minot State University students and recent alumni will perform as soloists in Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall, continuing a long-standing holiday tradition + collecting free-will offerings for MSU scholarships. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Creative Clique, hosted by Ward County Public Library, offers after-school art and science projects for middle schoolers from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Friday — the program will run through the summer to keep students engaged. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Minot Public Library announced that starting Jan. 1 it will drop the Hoopla digital media service due to rising borrowing costs and will continue offering ebooks and audiobooks through Libby/OverDrive (library officials cited budget concerns). Minot Daily News

- ➤ Lisa Finley DeVille from Mandaree said the EPA’s decision to narrow the Clean Water Act leaves tribal and rural wetlands unprotected — a move that risks more water pollution, flooding and harm to wildlife and local water supplies. Minot Daily News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ FDHU invites residents across seven counties (Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, McLean, Renville, Sheridan, Ward) to complete health survey for a chance to win a $25 gift card with results guiding programming in March, and the unit now serves as a depot for Mothers’ Milk Bank to collect milk for premature infants. - ➤ The South Prairie-Max Royals girls’ basketball team beat the May-Port CG Patriots 72-36 Friday night at the Minot Municipal Auditorium, earning their second win after a loss to the Carrington Cardinals.
