COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Stanley and Marianne Vangsness from Berthold were honored at the 51st annual Harvest Bowl on Nov. 15 at NDSU for their long commitment to Ward County farming—Stanley has farmed sustainably for 35 years while Marianne actively supports the farm.  Minot Daily News
  • Bravera has pledged $140,000 to fund replacing the north gym hardwood floor at the Minot Family YMCA and Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports, a facility that serves nearly 37,000 people each year — the upgrade will support inclusive sports events and fitness programs for youth and adults.  Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On November 26, the MHA Nation held the grand opening of its Native Green Grow greenhouse near Parshall; the facility uses reclaimed flare gas from tribal oil wells and produced 1.8 million pounds of produce in its first phase + Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak and other officials attended with traditional cultural celebrations. The project will eventually span 14 football fields and create over 50 jobs + it marks a major step in advancing Indigenous food sovereignty.  Minot Daily News
  • Together for School Meals submitted a petition to the Secretary of State to amend the constitution to provide free breakfast and lunch for all public school students — private and tribal schools may also join. If approved, the Secretary of State and Attorney General will have 5 to 7 business days to draft a title while the committee gathers the required 31,164 signatures to put the measure on the 2026 ballot.  Minot Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Vitalant announced that several blood drives will be held during the late December holidays to meet the steady need for lifesaving blood. Donors who give from Dec. 14 to Jan. 4 and sign up for Vitalant Donor Rewards will receive a $15 gift card and a mystery item—drives are planned at BX Commissary at Minot Air Force Base, 802 Lincoln Ave in Harvey, and at Garrison Civic Auditorium in Garrison.  Minot Daily News
  • The Minot Y is hosting its 'Burn the Bird' post-Thanksgiving fitness event today from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. — participants who complete four of five classes will be eligible for a prize, with registration fees of $15 for members and $25 for non-members.  KFYR-TV
