COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Minot Sertoma Club will brighten Oak Park with over 60 Christmas-themed light displays from Nov. 28-Dec. 31—displaying drive-through viewing from 5:30-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30-10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday while raising funds for local community programs.  Minot Daily News
  • The Backpack Buddies program has seen a surge in support as nearly 600 children have been served so far this school year—Minot families increasingly rely on donated healthy meals. The program, started by Souris Valley United Way in 2014, will host a community night on Dec. 9 from 4–6 p.m.—food donations earn raffle tickets while $264 will support a student for the school year.  KFYR-TV
  • Animal Empowerment League has launched its fifth annual silent auction fundraiser running from Nov 30–Dec 6 to raise funds for its trap neuter return program that has returned 270 outdoor cats and raised $7,500 since 2021. The group will also host Christmas pet photos from Dec 5–7, virtual cat TNR trivia on Dec 6 at 7 p.m., and an open house on Dec 13 to support its rescue efforts.  Minot Daily News
  • The Minot YMCA and Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports are merging to improve services for all members. Memberships remain valid as changes will come slowly — Prairie Grit will add new adult therapy and expand pediatric and fitness programs beginning in January.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • TUBACHRISTMAS will return to Minot with a free public concert on Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. at Dakota Square Mall—musicians must preregister online or on-site for a $15 fee and join a pre-performance rehearsal before enjoying a festive sing-along of holiday favorites led by the Minot Symphony Orchestra.  Minot Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Vonnie Alberts from New Town was diagnosed in April 2022 with a rare kidney disease that forced her on dialysis for years before she received a lifesaving kidney transplant on Mother's Day, May 11. Alberts—mother of six and grandmother of four—now celebrates her new chance at life while praying for others still waiting for transplants.  Minot Daily News

  • Our Redeemer’s senior Kadyn Braun signed with Bismarck State women’s basketball on Tuesday—she joins the team as they build their roster for the season.  KFYR-TV
