- ➤ Elementary students in Minot are crafting handmade Christmas cards to brighten the holidays for seniors—especially those who rely on Meals on Wheels from the Minot Commission on Aging. The commission is seeking business sponsors to support classrooms with supplies and an ice cream party for the students. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Today, the Minot Elks Lodge presented a $2,200 check from the North Dakota Elks Association to the Souris Valley United Way’s Backpack Buddies Program to support weekend food for 586 children in Minot Public Schools during the 2025-2026 school year. The donation is enough to feed eight children for a year + the program expects to pack 17,952 food bags. Minot Daily News
- ➤ The Scandinavian Heritage Park turned on holiday decorative lights on Saturday, November 22nd, drawing a crowd that enjoyed hot drinks, live reindeer, visits from Santa and the Grinch + music from the Western Plains Children’s Choir. Minot Daily News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Energy Information Administration projects a bear market for oil prices, and State Department of Mineral Resources Director Nathan Anderson said pricing led to fewer frac crews since November which may cut oil production (officials will monitor trends closely). KFYR-TV
- ➤ Local farmers are finishing the 2025 harvest with above average yields and quality that have brought improved pricing—despite rain and storage delays reported by grain merchants—and they plan to sell when target prices are met. Minot Daily News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Minot Public Works prepped for the first snowfall of the season Monday night — deploying eight motor graders, seven salt and sand trucks, and at least a dozen crew members — and worked with the Downtown Business Association to enforce new laws that penalize unremoved sidewalk snow and piled snow in parking spaces. The city maintained Broadway and Burdick as top road priorities to ensure safe passage for pedestrians and drivers. KFYR-TV
- ➤ The Hwy83/South Broadway culvert project in Minot is complete, opening two lanes for both north and southbound traffic—city engineers said crews applied temporary lane striping Monday and removed most cones from the road. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Permanent traffic lights have been installed at 16th Street and 11th Ave SW in Minot but final wiring remains—signals will switch over Tuesday if weather permits. This project marks the last major step in the 16th Street reconstruction after street lights were added last Friday. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Officials from the Bank of North Dakota said they provided about $1.6 million in low-interest loans at a 2% rate to 129 federal workers during the government shutdown—loans meant to help cover base net pay for up to three months as approved by the North Dakota Industrial Commission in October.
