COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports and the YMCA in Minot are merging to form one organization that will keep the fitness center open while all memberships remain active. Prairie Grit will take over leadership and upgrade facilities—adding new group exercise, therapy, and accessibility features.  KFYR-TV
  • A Minot food drive delivered 3,700 pounds of food and essentials to the First Sergeant’s pantry at Minot Air Force Base and the Lord’s Cupboard earlier this month to support those affected by the government shutdown. Organizers collected items downtown and at the chamber and also received a $4,000 donation from the Minot Area Community Foundation.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot Y’s Men, a 70-year-old service club that raises funds for the YMCA and Triangle Y Camp, hosted a bull riding event on Friday and will host one today at 7 p.m. at the Minot Auditorium—continuing their tradition of honoring western heritage for local kids.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Darline Perkins—of Red Lightning Couture in Bismarck—dazzled in two New York City fashion shows featuring Native American-inspired designs. The first event took place on Sept. 11 at the Penthouse with a ballroom facing the water, and the second was held on Sept. 13 at a downtown Manhattan hotel as producers commended her work.  Minot Daily News
  • Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot will light up its four tallest evergreen trees today at 6 p.m. for the Light Up the Park event, which begins with a gathering at 5:30 p.m. The event features a Christmas stroll carol by Western Plains Children's Opera+ hot drinks, free candy bags, a live reindeer from Northern Lights Reindeer Ranch and the ringing of a new church bell.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Minot International Airport director Jennifer Eckman advised holiday travelers to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before flights—she emphasized that following TSA rules and packing lightly can help avoid delays during Thanksgiving week.  Minot Daily News
  • MHA EOC held the 2025 Fort Berthold Indian Reservation Emergency Services Appreciation Day in New Town to honor local tribal and nontribal first responders, and Marle Baker received First Responder of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards. Volunteers Lyda Jade Spotted Bear and Vel Marie Yellow Wolf and other award winners were recognized across emergency disciplines.  Minot Daily News

  • A new DOT medical exam location in Minot is now open at Northland Health Centers on 2nd Avenue SW, where nurse practitioner Tasha Leier—now certified to perform physical qualification exams for truck and bus drivers—offers exams for $115 with advance appointments and possible same-day availability.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Minot High swimmer Sam VonBokern—fresh off two second-place finishes at state—has committed to continue her swim career at Nebraska Omaha.  KFYR-TV
  • South Prairie-Max lost 25-15, 23-25, 25-8, 25-22 to Valley City in the state volleyball semifinals at the Bismarck Event Center on Friday, Nov. 21—errors costing them the game. Valley City will play May-Port-C-G in the title match today at 5:30 p.m. while South Prairie-Max meets Central Cass for third place at 10 a.m.  Minot Daily News
  • Gage Florence broke the NCAA Division II career receptions record with his 387th catch on November 8. Bismarck State College announced its football program was reinstated on November 6 after 40 years+ the move marks a major change in college sports.  KFYR-TV
