COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Minot Civil Air Patrol cadet program reported a record number of recruits by graduating nine cadets + raising its total force to 25.  KFYR-TV
  • Community organizations and local leaders were honored Wednesday at the annual Alliance of Nonprofits awards in Minot—Heidi Llewellyn earned Board Member of the Year, Kat Howard was named Emerging Leader, The Lord’s Cupboard topped nonprofit organizations, Verendrye Electric received Supporting Business of the Year, and Laura Garcia was recognized as Nonprofit Leader while keynote speaker Amy Allender addressed the crowd.  KFYR-TV
  • The Minot Area Community Foundation awarded $42,230 to eight organizations yesterday for programs that build girls' leadership, confidence and life skills—applications for the next NWND Fund for Girls grant will open in 2026.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the T4 Summit in Stanley, students from nearby towns learned about jobs in fields like gas, oil, energy and health by trying hands-on tasks, and organizers from the North Dakota Petroleum Foundation said they plan to bring the event to more communities—helping fill local job openings. This event built on efforts to prepare a skilled workforce for North Dakota’s future.  KFYR-TV
  • Ellendale Public School competed for the first time in Cyber Madness — the middle school state cybersecurity tournament — and finished seventh among 40 teams on Wednesday. Coach Becky Middlestead said the event helped students gain key cyber skills for safe online use.  KFYR-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Alzheimer’s Association will offer a series of free virtual presentations in December to help healthcare and caregiving professionals support persons with dementia. The online classes will take place on Dec. 2, Dec. 9, Dec. 10, and Dec. 16—registration is required through the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-Dakota Chapter—and funding is provided by the ND Department of Health and Human Services Adult and Aging Services.  Minot Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Senior volleyball player Brynn Sorenson led Medina-Pingree-Buchanan to back-to-back Class B State Tournament berths by averaging nearly four kills per set and surpassing 2,000 career digs — her mother's support spurred her love for the game. After graduation, she will continue her volleyball career at Valley City State.  KFYR-TV
