COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Minot got a $120,000 grant from the Levitt Foundation to set up free outdoor summer concerts from next summer through 2028 + citizens text-voted to help choose the winners, and Local Motives organizers completed a judging round + the community will enjoy live music events.  KFYR-TV
  • A community survey released on Nov. 17 by OnPointe Insights showed that 58% of the 1,208 respondents felt the city was headed in a positive direction and 51% praised Minot as a great place to raise children, though many reported issues with traffic flow, snow removal and street maintenance. The survey—completed by local residents—also revealed concerns over fiscal responsibility and attracting quality businesses that city officials will address.  Minot Daily News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Miracle on First, a holiday bar serving Christmas cocktails and drinkware, will open Nov. 29 in downtown Minot next to the Regency—its first pop-up bar in three years since Dakota Square Mall—and will operate Monday through Thursday from 5 to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight.  KFYR-TV
  • Local businesses in Minot report that Memorial Highway construction—ongoing and affecting customer traffic—has led to slower sales and fewer customers.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Minot State University is hosting open rehearsals for Handel’s 'Messiah' on Nov. 23 and Nov. 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the Ann Nicole Nelson Hall stage. For the full performance on Dec. 7, a rehearsal runs from 1:30 to 3 p.m. — followed by a public performance at 4 p.m. in black and white attire.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Minot State University was awarded a Gibbens Grant by the North Dakota Association for the Disabled to buy specialized adaptive fitness equipment for its new Adaptive and Inclusive Equipment Project—designed to remove barriers and improve exercise opportunities for students and community members with health challenges.  Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After the government reopens, many local farmers face uncertainties over key support and funding — officials say some services remain on hold as they work to clarify operational procedures.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot Air Force Base's MSgt. Ian Wiley was accepted into Officer Training School — a highly competitive program with less than a 20% acceptance rate.  KFYR-TV
