- ➤ Roosevelt Park Zoo is hosting a contest to name its new baby giraffe — the contest on Facebook features three finalists, Khari, Enzi and Juma, with voting closing Nov. 21 at noon. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Ten-year-old Colby Redding launched Helping Hands, his yard cleaning business in Minot this month to buy gluten-free food for a local food pantry—he plans to expand his services to include snow clearing in winter. KFYR-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Brass Band of Minot will present 'Christmas Brass & Bells' on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. at Minot State University's Ann Nicole Nelson Hall with free admission and a freewill offering accepted — the concert honors founding member Wally Ost and will include his compositions, guest artist Dr. Joan Haaland Paddock, and festive holiday music. - ➤ North Dakota's taxable sales dropped 0.48% from July to September to $7.22 billion compared to last year—state tax officials said retail and utilities rose while manufacturing and mining fell. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Bishop Ryan Catholic School released its First Quarter Honor Roll for grades 6—12 to honor students who earned Highest Honors, High Honors—and Honors this term. The list names top academic performers by grade and outlines the award levels achieved in the first quarter. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Civil Air Patrol’s Minot-area cadet program reached a historic milestone when nine new cadets completed the eight-week Great Start curriculum and earned their first promotions (the largest introductory class in over 25 years). Cadet Ezekiel Hoverson earned the Billy Mitchell Award with his promotion to cadet second lieutenant and Flight Sgt. Emma Slocum achieved cadet chief (orientation flights are set to resume soon at the Minot Armed Forces Reserve Center despite earlier funding delays). Minot Daily News
- ➤ Winter school busing resumed Monday—on-base schools will receive bus service through April 2 after the service was paused during the government shutdown in October. KFYR-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Sustainable Minot business program returns after a two-year pause and will now award grant dollars to local businesses, churches, schools, and organizations that set simple sustainability goals. Organizer Tim Baumann said ideas include reducing trash and saving energy—applications are accepted until the end of the month. KFYR-TV

- ➤ Minot High volleyball has reached the state tournament for the first time in 14 years — the Majettes will face West Fargo Sheyenne in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Bismarck. KFYR-TV
