  • The Magic City Turkey Trot has moved to a new 5K route at Dakota Bark Park and will be held on Thanksgiving Day at 9 a.m. It benefits the Magic City Figure Skating Club’s synchronized skating teams — which need funds for competition expenses — and charges $40 for adults and $20 for kids.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot Area Chamber EDC announced the Eagle Award winners for October, honoring community members for their hard work and positive attitude. Winners include McKenzie Nelson from Edison Elementary School, Brenda Boehler from Edgewood Minot on 10th, Devyn Sumlin from Trinity Health, Sirapassorn Pukmith from Try Thai Food, Cassidy Genre from Dish Network, Anita Knapp from Best Buy, Austin DePriest from FedEx, Analicia Annie Venegas from Home Instead, Dr. Paul Pearson from Pearson Chiropractic, Deb Grandy from Burlington Elementary School, Ronald Carter from Minot Police Department, Todd Zewick from HIS Electric, Kevin Bousquet from Trinity Health First Response, Terri Beck from Trinity Health and Jaime Borgerding from Everything Concrete and Construction — all recognized for creating a great customer experience.  Minot Daily News
  • The local Salvation Army kicked off its annual Red Kettle Campaign on Nov. 15 with a goal to raise $60,000 at nine sites around town. Volunteers logged 530 hours at the start—each bell ringer can help generate $80 to $100 per hour—and support essential community services.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Minot Literacy Volunteers, founded in the late 1980s, offers free one-on-one tutoring at public locations to help residents improve reading, writing and speaking; the program serves adults, families and students referred by local schools. A fall book sale is scheduled at the Adult Learning Center from Thursday, Nov. 20, 9 a.m.—6 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 and 22, 9 a.m.—3 p.m., where donated books are sold for $5 per bag.  Minot Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Northland Health Centers announced Family Nurse Practitioner Tasha Leier became a certified medical examiner on the FMCSA National Registry—she can now perform physical exams for truck and bus drivers to meet federal standards. Her certification expands local occupational health services and allows appointments to be booked in advance with potential same-day availability.  Minot Daily News
