People who lost loved ones in auto crashes gathered at the State Capitol on World Day of Remembrance — the service honored crash victims and aimed to boost road safety.

Eric and Jesse Locken started a curbside food pantry near their home at 121 5th Street NW+ named Front of the House Foods to help neighbors facing food shortages from the shutdown and loss of SNAP benefits.

They have served dozens of people and gathered nearly $3,000 in groceries over the past 10 days+ will continue to operate as long as community donations arrive.

Minot native Isabella Roll, a collision engineering technology student at NDSCS, was selected as one of five nationwide to receive a $2,500 BASF Refinish and TechForce Foundation Techs for Tomorrow Scholarship and took an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas for the SEMA Show to meet industry experts. Her program also secured a $10,000 grant to upgrade collision repair training for its students.

The Minot Public School Board chose Northern Auction to handle the auction of the former Bell Elementary property in southwest Minot — the campus closed in 2024 for cost-saving measures and the auction is planned for mid-January.

On Friday, the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch dedicated the Zurcher Cottage at its Minot campus—this new psychiatric residential treatment facility will serve young children aged 10 to 14 with high needs.

Donations from individuals, foundations and corporations allowed construction to begin in September 2024 and the project is expected to be finished in early 2026.

INSPIRITUS Community Health Foundation awarded $191,886 in grants at a Minot luncheon on November 13 and announced plans to match $536,800 in donations for Twice Blessed grants available for public giving today and through December 31.

The grants help programs that improve mental, physical, spiritual and emotional well-being in north central counties.
