CULTURE NEWS

  • The Minot Symphony Orchestra will present ‘A Dance with Destiny’ on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall at Minot State University—featuring works by Robert Jager, Sergei Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky with a free musicology talk one hour before the performance.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A state auditor report found that Dakota College at Bottineau did not complete its monthly bank reconciliations correctly—undocumented differences ranged from $74,796 to $362,865 over four months. The college said it will hire Minot State University to help fix the issue because of business office turnover.  Minot Daily News
  • State School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler encouraged North Dakotans on Oct. 29 to apply for a pending vacancy on the State Board of Higher Education—created by board member Levi Bachmeier’s upcoming resignation. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Jan. 2 and the new board member will serve until June 30, 2029 after Senate confirmation.  Minot Daily News
  • After renting spaces across town for 10 years, Full STEAM Ahead has moved into a permanent home at 1400 5th St. SW in Minot, doubling the size of its previous space near Dakota Square Mall and receiving community support—including a $50,000 donation—to expand its youth STEAM programs — making the facility feel like home.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Minot High senior Mackenzie Dufner, the program’s all-time assists leader, is named SERVPRO Athlete of the Week and will play volleyball at the University of North Dakota next year. The team holds second place in the WDA with two regular-season matches remaining and faces Dickinson on Thursday at home — they seek their first state tournament appearance since 2011.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot native Leah Neset and partner Artem Markelov will debut at Skate Canada International in Saskatoon this weekend, starting Friday, Oct. 31. They placed fifth at Denis Ten Memorial and won bronze at Kinoshita Group Cup last fall — showing their promise in the Grand Prix series.  Minot Daily News
  • KFYR updated its sports lineup this week — the First News at Ten Sportscast aired on October 28th with new segments like The Dakota Drive, while earlier shows including Football Forecast and First News at Six were refreshed on October 13th and October 1st.  KFYR-TV
