- ➤ In 1984, the late John Odegard told the Kiwanis Club in Minot that UND’s aerospace school began in 1968-69 with two donated planes and 12 students, crediting Sen. Mark Andrews for securing FAA funds. By that time the program had grown to 750 students and today stands as one of the world’s leading aviation schools+ a lasting legacy of his vision.
