- ➤ Despite the federal government shutdown this week, operations at Minot International Airport remain normal today with TSA, air traffic control, and Customs and Border Protection working as essential services—Airport Operations Manager Maria Romanick noted that while a taxiway repair was completed last week and a project for next year is already funded, an extended shutdown could affect future services. - ➤ Approximately 600 government civilians at Minot Air Force Base are furloughed because of the federal shutdown, according to Maj. Tom Barger. The base’s 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing are still working—however, a longer shutdown may hurt readiness and modernization. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Motorists on South Broadway saw a traffic change on Friday when northbound lanes closed for a culvert replacement—traffic shifted to head-to-head southbound while officials said the Highway 2 exit ramp to 83 and Broadway will reopen soon and crews will finish drainage upgrades next month. - ➤ The Puppy Dog Coulee project is replacing aging metal culverts around Dakota Square Mall to improve storm water flow; 322 of 456 concrete sections have been installed as of Oct. 3. City officials inspected the work on Sept. 30 and said the nearly $20 million project will finish in 2026—more work on sewers and curbs is planned to support efficient drainage. City of Minot
