Town and Country Credit Union donated $50,000 to the Minot Family YMCA to repair water damage from a burst pipe—this donation supports a capital campaign for repairs that will restore full operations.

Local photographer Emma Rognlien of Minot won first place in the Lifestyle category of the NDFB agriculture photo contest with her striking black-and-white image of a young cowboy on horseback—titled 'Pulling his weight at family branding.' Shana Volk of Towner won in the Animals category for her warm photograph of a calf, and both winners will each receive $300 from among 175 submissions statewide.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded $2.14 million in grants to six North Dakota colleges—Minot State University, Turtle Mountain College, Lake Region State College, University of Mary, University of North Dakota, and North Dakota State University—to fund student support services that help students meet basic college needs and work toward degree completion.

North Dakota farmers are watching Washington for a new Farm Bill after the current extension expired Tuesday — the bill helps fund agricultural and conservation programs.

Mike Appert said he expects the next bill to be lean since many measures were already covered under the Big Beautiful Bill — a change that may bring needed crop insurance and trade subsidies amid high input costs.

MHA Nation Chairman Mark Fox said the tribe will need to fund certain programs on its own if Congress fails to pass a funding bill before midnight—this extra cost adds burden since the tribe already supplements its healthcare and law enforcement budgets, and Fox hopes a continued resolution will ease the impact.

Minot residents met finalists for the city manager role at a public meeting where candidates shared ideas for improving local government services.

The finalists answered residents’ questions and outlined plans for future projects.

North Dakotans can now transfer their driver’s licenses or state IDs to their phones and show them at more than 250 airport security checkpoints and venues—although they must still carry a physical ID because it cannot be used if pulled over.

The digital IDs cost $5 to enroll and work with Apple, Google and Samsung wallets.
