- ➤ The Bureau of Land Management announced it raised over $38 million from an oil and gas lease sale that included 23 parcels in North Dakota and Montana—totaling 7,604.47 acres; the strong receipts outpaced the previous quarter's national energy and timber totals and are set to boost future leasing and drilling activity. - ➤ Minot State and the police department launched a tuition payment apprenticeship program that places college students as Community Service Officers so they gain real work experience while helping to fill 15 open officer positions. The program covers tuition, fees and books for up to two years and requires students to work 20 hours a week — an effort approved in May to ease the department’s staffing shortage. KFYR-TV

- ➤ On Sunday, Sept 14, tornadoes struck central North Dakota, causing severe damage in Sheridan County by wrecking a mobile home and damaging nearby property. The National Weather Service received 19 reports and noted funnel clouds near Minot Air Force Base, and local groups provided help + the American Red Cross extended assistance. Minot Daily News

- ➤ On Sept. 15, the City Council heard from residents on the 2026 preliminary budget that reduced the sales tax levy from $29.5 million to $24.33 million and debated shifting funds from economic development to property tax relief—public input stressed the need for stable funding. - ➤ North Dakota Health and Human Services and Providence House Minot celebrated the expansion of a residential addiction treatment program for pregnant and parenting women with an open house held Monday, Sept. 15 at 423 Main St. S. The new program, launched Sept. 1, offers a 32-day inpatient treatment that lets children under five stay with their mothers while they build recovery skills in a supportive setting—program leaders encouraged community support to reduce stigma.
