BUSINESS NEWS

  • Tesla installed eight fast-charging stations at Marketplace Foods near Taco Bell today in Minot — the stations work around the clock and let drivers recharge in about half an hour.  KFYR-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Minot Police reported Angela Finley has been missing since Aug. 29 and she may be driving a white 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan — anyone with information is urged to call police immediately.  KFYR-TV
  • A Ward County jury convicted Dalton Hattem on two charges for elder sexual abuse at Minot Health and Rehab after a four-day trial — he is held in custody pending sentencing.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Minot native, Colton Cook, performs as Masetto in the Italian production of Don Giovanni Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday in his hometown — his dream began when he met Western Plains Opera as a high school student.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot advanced to the public voting phase for a national grant from the Levitt Foundation — a grant that could provide up to $120,000 to fund 10 free outdoor concerts downtown from 2026 through 2028, making it one of 100 cities in the country at this stage. Voting opened on Sept 5 and will close on Sept 15 at 7 p.m., with Bismarck being the only other North Dakota community in the running.  Minot Daily News
  • Laurel Wentz from Fessenden attended a banquet in Morgedal, Norway on Saturday, June 14 to honor Sondre Norheim, the father of modern skiing who once homesteaded in McHenry County — she recalled that he taught her grandfather to ski — and the celebration also includes a wreath-laying ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. at Norway Lutheran Church.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The state approved a lead teacher apprenticeship program to form teams of educators and will send 15 teachers to Arizona State University this fall—Fargo and Northern Cass will pilot the approach. The Burgum Foundation provided $140,000 to help fund the training, and the program is set to launch in the upcoming school year.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Minot engineers are replacing a culvert on U-S 83—dividing the work into west and east sections to ease traffic—after a collapse forced the closure of the highway's southbound lane, with the lane expected to be finished by the end of September.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot Police Department will expand its southwest station with a $13.9 million project that will add new offices and update the HVAC system over the next two years—dividing the work into five phases. Some city council members questioned the rising costs and potential tax impacts, and the city will soon request qualifications for the work—ensuring careful review of the numbers.  KFYR-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • North Dakota State University Extension is offering a free QPR Suicide Prevention Certification training Monday, Sept. 29, from 3-4:30 p.m. at its Ward County office in Minot - the workshop will equip participants to recognize suicide warning signs and refer individuals for help, and they will earn a certificate valid for two years.  Minot Daily News
