- ➤ Jenni Babcock, a survivor of a 2023 Christmas Eve shooting, criticized a plea deal for the man charged with killing her boyfriend, Nicholas Van Pelt—she said the deal fails to bring justice to Minot. KFYR-TV

- ➤ Roosevelt Park will close for the season on Sept. 8 due to flood control work—pickleball courts and the park entrance will not be open to the public. The closure helps crews finish building levees and flood walls—ensuring work is completed before winter. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Minot City Council met and discussed two proposals for using sales tax dollars for public safety—one to raise funds with a new half-cent sales tax and another to shift funds from the first penny. Mayor Mark Jantzer urged citizens to speak up at the public hearing on Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m. as the council plans to pass a final budget in early October. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Minot’s first deputy police chief, Dale Plessas, was sworn in at City Hall on Sept. 3 in a ceremony led by interim City Manager Tom Joyce—Minot Mayor Mark Jantzer praised his 24 years of service and noted his roles as captain and interim police chief. Plessas, a graduate of the FBI National Academy, said he would work hard to serve the community and uphold the department’s values. Minot Daily News
