CULTURE NEWS

  • On Aug. 28, local muralists brightened Citizens Alley with vibrant murals and digital wraps during an event with food and music — featuring themes like native plants and maps of Minot that spark local conversation. Their work turns the alley into a community space that celebrates local talent.  Minot Daily News
  • Norsk Hostfest is hosting a Meet the Chefs preview event on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Marketplace Foods at 1930 S. Broadway, where chefs—Patrice Johnson, Stig Hansen and Teena Anderson—will serve sample dishes with live music and dancing as a preview for the festival set for Sept. 24-27.  Minot Daily News
  • Mouse River Players Community Theater will launch its season with 'The Haunting of Hill House' at the Arlene Theater in downtown Minot on Sept. 19-21 and Sept. 26-28—Friday and Saturday shows will start at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., with the box office opening one hour before each performance.  Minot Daily News

  • North Dakota lawmakers named rhubarb as the official state vegetable during this year's legislative session—giving the crop official status as a symbol of local agriculture. Local grower Angy Edison from Angelic Gardens said the cold weather helps the resilient plant return each spring.  KFYR-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • NDSU Extension is offering a free six-week self-care program called 'Powerful Tools for Caregivers' to help caregivers support themselves while caring for a loved one. The online series will begin Oct. 6 from 1-2:30 p.m.—participants will receive a digital copy of The Caregiver Handbook and can register by contacting the NDSU Extension-Ward County office in Minot.  Minot Daily News

  • Team Minot competed in the Summer Games 2025 at Minot Air Force Base where airmen won a soccer match on Aug. 22—this event featured several sports competitions that built teamwork among participants.  Minot Daily News
