- ➤ Troy Edward Sanders, a Minot man, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder in North Central District Court on Aug. 28 and received a suspended sentence of ten years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation followed by five years of probation after charges from a domestic incident where he choked an adult and a child. - ➤ Trinity Health is accepting applications for its EMT Program, which will run from Jan. 5, 2026 to June 4, 2026 and offer classroom discussions, hands-on skills training, and field clinicals on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5-9 p.m. at the Trinity Health Riverside Education Center—applications are due by 3 p.m. Oct. 20. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ At Minot Air Force Base, experts from Colorado State University restored native ecosystems with seed planting and controlled burns that began in fall 2023—efforts that support pollinators and improve stormwater management. The project also established an outdoor learning center for local residents and will continue to monitor and expand its restoration work. Northern Sentry

- ➤ Sixteen Minot citizens filed letters of intent for the vacant City Council seat by 4 p.m. Thursday — the vacancy arose after voters elected Mark Jantzer as mayor. City leaders will meet with candidates on Tuesday afternoon and may appoint one to serve through next summer. KFYR-TV
- ➤ On August 15, Minot Air Force Base held a dedicated ceremony honoring 18 maintainers selected as crew chiefs for their skill and commitment to keeping aircraft ready for flight + their names were added to each aircraft as a sign of trust from peers and leaders. The ceremony underscored the extra responsibility these crew chiefs took on in managing maintenance tasks and repairs. Northern Sentry

- ➤ The Lopez Gym is a non-profit boxing facility on North Broadway that trains twin fighters Rafael and Jose Lopez under local coach Richard Calavera and doctors Gary Hundal and Dharam Singh.
