COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Trinity Health Foundation will host its 8th annual Fuel the Fight event on Sept. 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Dakota Square ARCO — the event features a dunk tank, touch-a-truck experience, bounce houses and a complimentary lunch while proceeds help cover travel costs for CancerCare Center patients.  Minot Daily News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters responded Tuesday night to a fire inside a wall at an apartment in northwest Minot that displaced two residents and their pets—crews quickly extinguished the blaze and ventilated the building with no injuries reported.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Minot City Council is weighing proposals—cutting $1 million from street maintenance funding and increasing sales tax for property tax relief—as part of next year's budget plans. The debate also covers remodeling the police building and reallocating funds for economic development and public safety, with a final decision expected in early October.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot Air Force Base's 5th Munitions Squadron won the trophy at the Air Force Combat Operations Competition—held earlier at Beale Air Force Base—and earned world champion status by winning seven of nine events after finishing last in 2022.  KFYR-TV
  • On August 27, a Dunseith RV manufacturer filed a 242-page federal civil rights lawsuit seeking nearly $2 billion in damages from five state Commerce officials for allegedly deceiving him into buying a troubled factory—he claims they concealed illicit aerospace projects and retaliated against him during cleanup—and he has requested a jury trial in U.S. District Court.  Minot Daily News
