- ➤ A person won $25,000 a year for life from Saturday night's Lucky for Life drawing after buying a ticket at M&H Gas on Burdick Expressway — the ticket remains unclaimed and the station earned a $2,500 bonus. KFYR-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The North Dakota Military Gallery is being built as part of the Heritage Center and State Museum expansion in Bismarck — construction began on July 10 while an Aug. 11 event in Minot celebrated the project, which will honor military service and be finished in 2027. Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Minot City Council appointed Mike Blessum as council president after Mark Jantzer took the oath as mayor during Monday's meeting. Scott Samuelson made the motion and all members but Jantzer voted yes. KFYR-TV
- ➤ The canvassing board added three absentee ballots on Aug. 18 that did not change the official mayoral election outcome—Mark Jantzer leads with 2,352 votes while Rob Fuller and Paul Pitner received 1,431 and 1,399 votes respectively. Candidate Josiah Roise said he will contest the results until Aug. 21 after his voting machine failed to show a proper scan acknowledgment. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Minot residents interested in serving on City Council must submit applications by Aug. 28 after the council filled a vacancy on Aug. 18 when Mayor Mark Jantzer was sworn in following his Aug. 5 win—applications will be reviewed at a special meeting on Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. and the council may opt for a special election in December if needed.
