- ➤ Oak Park will host the 9th Annual Minot Food Truck Festival on Sunday, Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.—the event will feature a kickoff 5K run, food trucks, live music, and new activities including Touch a Tractor with Dakota Truck and Farm that will benefit ND Strong. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Mrs. Field’s Closet now has a third location at Minot North High School – the nonprofit gives free hygiene and school supplies to about 2,000 students. Erik Ramstad Middle School will soon receive a closet. KFYR-TV
- ➤ After federal funds were cut this spring, Souris Basin Planning Council partnered with Strengthen ND to keep AmeriCorps positions staffed using new Serve ND funds of $208,782—now the council is recruiting host agencies and plans to start placements by year-end. Minot Daily News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Travis Fletcher Kruczek, 25, pleaded guilty in North Central District Court on Aug. 12 to two counts of fentanyl distribution resulting in overdoses in April and was sentenced to three years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation—having received credit for 121 days served and incurring a total of $1,800 in fines—after admitting to selling controlled substances. - ➤ The Minot Junior Golf Association announced five 2025 senior scholarships for junior golfers from Minot North, Des-Lacs Burlington, and South Prairie High Schools. Samantha Lentz will attend the University of North Dakota — Kasen Rostad, Carlie Brown, and Joshua Lindbo will go to Minot State University while John Allen Renaud will attend Valley City State University. - ➤ Prairie Grit Therapy announced it has a few spots left in its Little Gritters Preschool and Tiny Gritters Pre-Preschool classes starting Sept. 2 at Minot Family YMCA — enrollment is open to all families even if their child does not receive therapy services. Little Gritters Preschool runs Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m.—noon while Tiny Gritters Pre-Preschool meets Monday and Wednesday from 1—3 p.m. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Minot received a $29.6 million loan to find and replace water service lines that may contain lead in roughly 8,000 of the city’s 14,000 pipes—Public Works will hire a contractor to pothole curb stops and start a small project in the fall, with 70% of the loan forgiven under the Infrastructure Bill. - ➤ A new Northwoods League softball team—owned by Dylan and Monica Hocking and John and Marcie Bollinger—will begin play in Grand Forks at Albrecht Field on the UND campus in 2026. This expansion marks the sixth team in the league and promises increased competition among state teams. KFYR-TV
