- ➤ Minot firefighters responded at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12 on the 500 block of Sixth Avenue Northeast and rescued one occupant and two dogs from a house fire—transporting the occupant to a hospital while one dog did not survive and the cause remains under investigation. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Minot students have received school supplies, clothing and hygiene products from Mrs. Field’s Closet—started by teacher Tammy White in honor of Becky Field in 2019—in a time of rising expenses. The nonprofit served 2,577 students with 11,620 available items and will host an open house for the new Minot North High School closet at 10 a.m. Friday. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Minot Air Force Base's main gate will be closed for vehicle barrier repairs from Aug. 18 until Sept. 3 — the South Gate will remain open to everyone 24/7. KFYR-TV
- ➤ City officials said the reopening of the intersection of 16th Street and 11th Avenue Southwest—along with the nearby stretch of 16th Street North to Burdick Expressway—has been delayed due to unforeseen construction issues and will not be ready by the start of school on Aug. 20; they advised drivers to allow extra travel time and use alternate routes until a new date is confirmed. - ➤ The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association mailed more than 16,000 livestock brand renewal forms in early August, and owners must return their completed forms and fees by Dec. 31—failure to renew will result in expired brands—while the association plans to publish the 2026 North Dakota Brand Record. - ➤ ND Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring advised residents to review producers' safety practices when buying raw milk—he warned that it can carry bacteria like E. coli, Listeria and Salmonella that pose risks to young children and seniors, noting that the law allowing its direct sale became effective on Aug. 1.
