Artist Guido van Helten has been painting a giant mural on a former grain elevator in downtown Minot since March and he works from a rented crane with a 135-foot elevated work platform amid heat, wind, and wildfire smoke—he expects the project to be complete in September.
The images, based on his own photographs and inspired by the building's unique architecture, add a fresh story to our downtown skyline.
The Taube Museum of Art in downtown Minot celebrated 55 years since it opened in the 1970s and postponed its larger 50th anniversary celebration in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The museum features The Sketchbook Project — a collection of over 1,000 sketchbooks from around the world — and has added upgrades like a handicap lift and residence space to improve accessibility.
🏛️ Government
Starting Monday, August 11, Minot City Transit will offer free rides through Friday, August 15 to thank riders and invite new passengers.
The program normally costs $1.50 per ride or up to $36 for a monthly pass — residents should review transit routes before riding amid ongoing construction.
