- ➤ One person died in a barn fire in Berthold on Thursday night—emergency crews discovered a missing individual when the barn collapsed near 20th Avenue SW, and the victim's identity is withheld pending family notification. KFYR-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 62-year-old male was found unresponsive at Ward County Detention Center on Friday, Aug. 8 and died after resuscitation efforts failed — an external investigation by the ND Bureau of Criminal Investigation coupled with a pending internal review are underway. Minot Daily News

- ➤ North Dakota Tourism launched a program that posts weekly sunflower field locations and bloom percentages to guide visitors—farmer Clint Coleman said his sunflowers, planted on May 15, will bloom for two to three weeks before drying for combine season, and he urged people to admire the fields from the edges.
