- ➤ A new homeless shelter and low-income housing complex at Broadway Circle in Minot is moving closer to opening as a contract review on Aug. 18 will let Pathfinder Services admit clients using HUD income guidelines. Local businesses have been asked to help furnish the 17 apartments and six family shelter units so that residents can access counseling services from the onsite office. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Alumni of Minot High School's Class of '65 hold a final reunion to celebrate 60 years since graduation and share decades of memories. About 70 classmates will tour the city, the new Minot North High School, and Magic City Campus — a final gathering due to age and travel limitations. KFYR-TV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ One person died and another was injured in a two-vehicle rear-end crash on U.S. Highway 83 south of Minot on August 1 when a 73-year-old Geo Metro driver was struck from behind by a 61-year-old Ford Escape driver— the Metro went into a ditch— and the Metro driver, not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene while the Escape driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. - ➤ Delon Davis, 46, convicted in May for the 2024 murder of Mark Ramon McMillan Jr., had his sentencing delayed in North Central District Court on August 1 because his attorney said the presentencing investigation was only received on July 25—state law requires a 14-day review and his sentencing is now set for August 21. - ➤ Minot Honeybees management announced Friday that 500 free tickets are available for Monday’s playoff game at Corbett Field provided by local business Bellus Medica Aesthetics and Wellness—whose owner has a personal tie to the team through her daughter Cadey Shipman. The game will be the only playoff match in Minot as the remaining contests will take place in Madison. KFYR-TV
- ➤ The Minot Honeybees finished second in the league standings after an 8—7 loss to the Madison Night Mares, which earned them a spot in the championship series. The team will host game one of the three-game series on Monday, August 4—facing the Night Mares in the opener. KFYR-TV
- ➤ 4 Bears Roar officially launched as a new professional basketball team on Jul. 29 at 4:24 a.m. The team will begin competing soon as it builds a strong roster — drawing local fan interest. KFYR-TV
