- ➤ The 2025 State Fair ended July 26 with 356,552 attendees—4.12% more than last year and just beating the previous record from 2023. The event featured a sold-out Jelly Roll performance, high-energy concerts, rodeo events, and a record-setting 5K while planning has already begun for the 2026 fair. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Minot's Ackerman-Esvold added two new employees and certified an asbestos inspector as Tony Benham rejoined as a full-time senior designer and Jayden Groninger joined as a construction specialist and testing technician. Benham, with over 36 years of experience, will use CAD design for land development in North Dakota+Idaho while Sam Paszek now performs asbestos inspections on renovations and demolitions. - ➤ Minot artist Judy Bell has spent ten years restoring 12 religious paintings by Berthold von Imhoff after receiving a call from an 82-year-old man in Colorado who found the damaged works after a fire. Eleven paintings will be featured at an art show called The Art of Restoration at the Taube Museum of Art from Aug 1 to Sept 4 (an artist reception is set for Aug 28 from 5 to 7 p.m.). - ➤ The Minot City Council approved a preliminary 2026 budget that shows a 23% property tax increase to a $29.5 million levy—this increase comes from using a 2024 base and including flood control debt under a new state law. Council member Mike Blessum said he will propose cuts to bring the levy closer to the intended 3% cap, with a budget message on Aug. 18 and public hearings on Sept. 15. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Minot mayoral candidate Josiah Roise promises a constitutional government with less enforcement of laws he views as overstepping personal liberties, and he is running in the Aug. 5 election. He will hold rallies Tuesday and Wednesday at Oak Park Theater and the amphitheater — where a documentary featuring Richard Mack will be shown — to highlight his pledge to reduce government overreach.
