Members of Special Olympics of Minot helped clean up the fairgrounds at the North Dakota State Fair this week + volunteers led by Renee Dufner used grabbers and garbage bags to remove litter for thousands of daily visitors+.

ND State Fair moved up Friday night’s Limp Bizkit concert schedule due to a weather forecast, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. (the opening act performed at 7 p.m.) and Limp Bizkit starting after 8 p.m. (this change follows adjustments made for other concerts).

Kyona Rivera and Lindsey Miller discussed their plans for covering the ND State Fair — organizers moved up the Limp Bizkit concert schedule due to forecast weather alerts.

The reporters said the change is part of a developing plan to adjust events based on the weather.

Friends Ava Burckhard, Jheri Flannigan — and Melissa Erhart helped Flannigan’s niece experience her first North Dakota State Fair this week as she enjoyed bright lights, the smell of mini donuts, and the sounds of carnival games.

ND State Fair unveiled its new 2025 logo+ to honor the fair’s history and milestone, and the design will be showcased in upcoming events+ that celebrate local achievements.

Daryl’s Racing Pigs began as an FFA project and has grown into a popular state fair attraction, with pigs racing daily at 12:30 p.m.—3 p.m.—and 5:30 p.m. Daryl now leads the fourth-generation event with his family, giving fairgoers a chance to see trained pigs run free.

On July 25, Sen. John Hoeven said the Education Department will release the remaining state education grants—previously under review by the Office of Management and Budget—that will support teacher recruiting, training and adult education.

The funds also back after-school programs and meet local school needs.

Jay Jenkins directed MSU Summer Theatre’s 'High School Musical, Jr.' this month as part of the 60th anniversary season—he managed a two-week production that built young actors’ confidence and showcased their talent.

On Friday at the ND State Fair, North Dakota One Call held an 811 Day event to remind fairgoers to check before digging—about 85% of requests are made online and homeowners are urged to call 811 for digs deeper than 18 inches.

The campaign also featured swag from partnering companies to boost safety awareness.

The City of Minot announced that a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on July 31 at 2 p.m. at Broadway Circle at 1901 South Broadway to mark the completion of a multi-use development featuring a six-unit emergency family homeless shelter, a 17-unit affordable housing complex and commercial spaces. Local officials and project partners will speak and offer an optional tour, and members of the public are invited to attend.
