- ➤ Minot man Justin Marshall Rostad, 32, pleaded guilty to a Class A felony for distributing fentanyl that led to a drug overdose on April 9 — with 74 days of credit for time served — and was sentenced today to five years in state prison after a police investigation provided video evidence of the sale. - ➤ Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, played basketball for about 90 minutes at Minot State before his sold-out Sunday concert at the state fair and signed autographs with campus staff. Minot State presented him with the concert hat - his crew also received the jerseys and shirts they wore on stage. KFYR-TV
- ➤ At the State Fair this weekend, fair officials awarded three concession stands for outstanding food choices in the Food Frenzy Competition. Funky Flamingo from Florida—who has attended since the late 90s—claimed the Sugary Sensations title with its $12 caramel chocolate bacon dipped cheesecake, while Whip’d Up and Little Blue Elephant won awards for their Sunset Swirl and What The Hack Roll offerings. - ➤ Winners of the 2025 North Dakota State Parade have been announced after the parade held last Saturday in Minot with retired coach Randy Hedberg serving as grand marshal and a theme of Small Town Roots, Big Dakota Touchdowns. Awards will be given today — winners include Western Bank and Trust for the Grand Marshal Award, West Minot Church of God for the Flickertail Award, Mema’s Meats for the Heritage Award, Giscon LLC for the North Dakota State Fair Award, Dakota Truck and Farm/Harry’s Tire Service for the Pioneer Award, Budweiser Clydesdales for the Roughrider Award and others.
