The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a $4 million BUILD grant to Ward County for preliminary work on a new transportation corridor in southwest Minot.

The grant will fund planning, environmental review and design for the corridors—an Outer Connector from U.S. Highways 2 and 52 to U.S. Highway 83 along County Roads 14 and 16 and an Inner Connector on 30th Street Southwest.

Minot’s new police chief Michael Frye was sworn in Monday at City Hall by acting mayor Mark Jantzer—he said he will support patrol officers and work to restore hope in the community.

South Prairie School's trap team competed on Sunday at the National Trap Championships in Michigan and placed third, with senior Brianna Helsene winning the women's division and senior Samual Abel finishing fifth — the team is made up of four seniors and one sophomore.

They will compete next in Ohio and will be updated when they return.
