- ➤ Tigirlily Gold debuted its new North Dakota anthem—'Call it Home'—at ND Country Fest. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Citizens Alley offered a new location—designed with art in mind—for downtown Arts in the City held on Thursday by the Minot Area Council of the Arts. The venue will host the next event on Aug. 7—featuring The Sound of Independence and a grand opening. Minot Daily News

- ➤ The City of Minot will officially swear in Michael Frye as the new police chief on Monday at 4:30 p.m. in Minot City Hall council chambers at 10 3rd Ave. SW, and the public is invited to attend the ceremony or watch it livestreamed on the city’s social media channels. Frye brings more than two decades of law enforcement experience from his work in Minneapolis and Bismarck State College. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Seventy years ago today, about 200 people and local leaders gathered north of Minot to break ground for what would become Minot Air Force Base—Brig. Gen. James Guthrie called it North Dakota’s first big military base while Col. Thomas Hayes Jr. said construction bids would be asked for in August after the U.S. House Appropriations Committee backed over $6.2 million for the project. This milestone marked the start of a base now hosting nuclear-capable bombers and missiles. Minot Daily News
- ➤ At Minot Air Force Base on Wednesday, Gen. Anthony Cotton presented the 2024 Omaha Trophy to the 91st Missile Wing for exceptional support of U.S. Strategic Command (the trophy is the highest civilian honor) and marked a milestone in nuclear enterprise excellence (recognition for top-performing units). - ➤ The Minot Fire Department held a celebration Thursday for Capt. Chris Aberle as he retired after more than 28 years of service—he began his career in 1996, became a firefighter in 1999, and led as captain since 2015. Minot Daily News
