North Dakota tourism leaders report rising online interest in summer travel as more residents plan road trips and outdoor recreation.
They say Medora’s upcoming Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library opening will attract visitors to the Badlands in the coming months.
Veterans in the area will join events from July 1 to July 30.
On July 1, they attend a coffee session at Ward County Administration Building with Anthony Cooper — free lunches and discussion at Edgewood on 10th, Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church, Somerset Court and Minot Lodge Senior Living.
🎭 Culture
Minot honors President Theodore Roosevelt as his historic Roughrider statue still stands at Roosevelt Park and the Roosevelt Park Zoo for over 100 years, having arrived from Brooklyn in 1924.
Minot Parks plans to clean and restore the statue this fall.
MACF announced a $26,930 grant to Local Motives to support the inaugural Levitt AMP Minot Music Series, which will bring free live music downtown at Citizens Alley this summer— funded by the Chuck and Madge Westlie Fund.
The grant helps meet matching fund requirements for a three-year Levitt Foundation program.
🎓 Education
This spring, North Dakota State University in Fargo celebrated area students who earned degrees in fields from management to construction management, including several from Minot.
The ceremony recognized academic achievements, with graduates receiving honors such as magna cum laude & cum laude.
🏛️ Government
Minot International Airport passed its annual FAA inspection today with no letters of correction as inspectors checked runways, airfield lighting, firefighting readiness, fueling operations and wildlife hazards.
Airport Director Jennifer Eckman said the milestone reflects the staff's daily commitment to safety.

The 51st annual McQuade Tournament concluded Sunday, awarding trophies to 16 teams in a charity softball event.
One team made up of players from Eastern Montana & Western North Dakota broke a long drought and honored a fallen teammate.
