EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Minot Public Schools is considering selling three unused properties — Bell Elementary, the former Jefferson Elementary, and Idlewild land — and relocating the Souris River Campus from the Burdick Job Corps property to the former McKinley Elementary building. The board said bidding discussions for the properties and move will begin in August and September. KFYR-TV

- ➤ The North Dakota legislature is weighing options on the attorney general's precedential opinion on the governor's veto power. Lawmakers plan to review how the opinion may guide future veto decisions. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Absentee ballots for Minot's special mayoral election are now available for voters to obtain by submitting a signed application at the Ward County Auditor’s office. Voters must have their ballots received by 7 p.m. on Aug. 5 at the Ward County Administration Building—polling on election day will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in room 201 at the Municipal Auditorium. - ➤ The City of Minot ended its neighborhood meeting series on Thursday in the Municipal Court room when Police Commander Jason Sundbakken explained the storm shelter is opened during tornado warnings amid recent severe weather. He also noted the shelter, which can hold (100–200) people, and the city’s 20 sirens help keep residents safe during emergencies. Minot Daily News

- ➤ The Minot Hot Tots and Honeybees have partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota to launch their Strike Out the Stigma campaign to support mental health and raise funds for suicide prevention.
