- ➤ Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot opened its 7,300 square foot African Plains Building on World Giraffe Day, June 21, to offer enriched indoor care for its giraffes during North Dakota winters. Earlier in the spring, the zoo welcomed four critically endangered Amur tiger cubs born on May 19 and will debut them on July 29 — it also released a new children’s book about tiger cub Zoya to support its conservation efforts. - ➤ The MAGIC Fund Committee moved United Pulse Trading Inc.'s loan request forward on Thursday to the next stage for final approval by the Minot City Council, seeking a $269,231 forgivable loan to support a $12.75 million expansion of its Extrusion Center of Excellence in Minot. - ➤ Minot’s Scandinavian Heritage House holds two centuries of immigrant history and was once known as the Scott House; the building was moved after a 1969 flood and later restored (with local volunteers) for use as a museum.
