- ➤ Minot will open Citizens Alley on July 10 as a new outdoor plaza that will host live music, sports, a farmers market and a pop jet fountain in the summer + it will transform into an ice skating rink during winter. The non-profit Local Motives plans to add basketball and pickleball courts, a movie screen and an overhead walkway while finishing railings and furniture. KFYR-TV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Minot Police said a 26-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash Monday in southeast Minot when he lost control on a curve while speeding and his bike entered oncoming traffic to collide with a pickup — the pickup driver suffered minor injuries. KFYR-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Minot woman 55-year-old Rana Kay Walsh was sentenced to 60 days with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after pleading guilty to burglary and theft-take-firearm in connection with a December 23 storage unit burglary in southeast Minot on Friday; she must complete three years of probation and keep at least 150 feet away from the storage unit as part of her plea agreement. - ➤ The North Dakota Supreme Court affirmed the manslaughter conviction of Shawn Gramkow, 39, of Minot for shooting another man in a 2023 bar fight in Beulah after a Mercer County jury convicted him in September 2024 + he was sentenced to 10 years with five years suspended on Dec. 31. - ➤ North Dakota mother and daughter Janice Lininger and Kari Lininger-Downs released a biography titled 'Bowen: An Unfinished Life' that tells the story of their grandfather and great-grandfather, Murrel K. Bowen, who was murdered in the Summer of 1919 at their Golden Valley County ranch during a homesteader feud. They will host book discussions in Montana from July 11 to July 15+ the schedule is available on the book's Facebook page. KFYR-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Airmen at Minot Air Force Base tested emergency response skills during a training exercise on June 11—units from the 5th Medical Group and the 54th Helicopter Squadron practiced patient transport and simulated field hospital care. The exercise improved teamwork between medical and aircrew personnel over routine clinic operations. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Starting July 1, law enforcement will target speeders and aggressive drivers to ensure safer travel, and the campaign will run through Aug. 4—when increased speed limits on interstates take effect Aug. 1. The initiative follows a spring law change designed to address risky driving. KFYR-TV
- ➤ On June 13th, U.S. Air Force leaders hosted a 5th Medical Group Provider open house at Minot Air Force Base to strengthen ties with off-base medical providers. Col. Jimmy Schlabach and Capt.
