  • Magic City Equality and Misfits of Minot hosted a community picnic and outdoor games in Oak Park on Sunday as part of month-long Pride Month events — local groups joined the gathering to celebrate inclusiveness.  Minot Daily News
  • Roosevelt Park Zoo has unveiled a new year-round giraffe habitat in Minot that lets visitors see three giraffes (Kianga, Kioni and Amani) from both indoor and outdoor areas. The 7,300 sq ft facility stays warm at 70°F (set by heaters and fans) and offers feeding times at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  KFYR-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Marcus Sean Watson, 28, pleaded guilty in North Central District Court to one count of fentanyl delivery and was sentenced to 10 years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation+undercover officers made controlled purchases of 300 fentanyl tablets in January as part of a plea agreement that dismissed two additional counts.  Minot Daily News
  • North Dakota Supreme Court upheld the conviction of Shawn Gramkow, a Minot man found guilty of shooting Phillip Luster at Fanatics Sports Bar and Grill last year, rejecting his claim of self-defense.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Minot State Summer Theatre opened its 60th anniversary season with Fiddler on the Roof, marking the first time in 20 years the show has been performed. Performances will run through Sunday, June 29 with an American Sign Language show on Thursday — guests should call 858-3228 for reserved seating.  Minot Daily News

  • Minot Public Schools will hold a special board meeting tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at the Minot Area Workforce Academy in Room 117—this executive session will focus on negotiation strategies for the Minot Administration Association.  Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A section of 22nd Ave SW is now open while crews begin Phase 4 work to close the 24th Ave SW and Dakota Square Mall Loop Road intersection—this is part of the Puppy Dog Coulee project to replace 1,600 feet of failing storm sewers. The nearly $20 million project will add new concrete, asphalt, and underground features and aims for substantial completion on July 31 with full work done by Oct. 2.  City of Minot
