- ➤ Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot will open its new African Plains Building on Saturday, June 21 to celebrate World Giraffe Day + unveil a state-of-the-art giraffe habitat for hand-feeding sessions. The zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. + feedings are scheduled at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Minot Daily News

- ➤ The Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC is launching a video campaign made by local production company Threefold to help ease a workforce shortage in Bismarck-Mandan. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Minot City Council unanimously approved Michael Frye as the new police chief and created a deputy chief position at their Monday meeting. Frye, who retired as a lieutenant in Minneapolis and served as chief at Bismarck State College, will begin his duties on July 14—bringing his leadership experience to the department. City of Minot
- ➤ Industrial Builders Inc. was awarded nearly $10 million to replace the Velva bridge on Highway 41 as part of the Mouse River flood control plan—65% of which will be funded by the state and the remainder by sales tax dollars. The Minot City Council approved the bid on Monday despite the project costing 18% over budget. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Minot International Airport got city approval to upgrade its decade-old PA system that often reverted to outdated security messages. Airport Director Jennifer Eckman said the new $236,000 project, 80% funded by the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission, will replace the failing system and improve terminal announcements. KFYR-TV
