COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local veterans, city leaders and residents gathered at Ryan Family Buick-GMC on Friday to honor Flag Day as the ceremony moved indoors due to poor air quality from Canadian wildfires—Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 hosted the event with a flag presentation by the Minot Air Force Base Color Guard and a free drive thru lunch. Officials paid tribute to patriotism with a flag folding ceremony and a TAPS performance that closed the event.  Minot Daily News
  • Minot Menards is hosting an annual food drive as a drop site for a local food pantry that runs through July 31—donations of nonperishable food items from personal pantries or other stores are accepted in a large box by the exit doors. General Manager Jared Cowell said the drive has run for eight years—helping provide essential food supplies to local residents.  Minot Daily News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new gluten-free food truck, Dee’s Donuts, started in Minot this year to serve locals with celiac disease and gluten sensitivities. Owner Duane Lothspeich, who has celiac himself, launched the family-run venture after seeing a child miss out on fair foods and will expand the menu and attend a June 16 event at Walmart—with tips benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network.  KFYR-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • On June 10, North Central District Court in Minot sentenced four residents—Travis Dye, 40, received $725 in fines for a fourth driving under revocation offense; Lorenzo Eduadro Fuentes, 55, got two years of supervised probation and a $325 fine for preventing arrest; Marie Chrystanza Walsh, 44, was given 18 months of supervised probation with additional fines for unauthorized use of personal identifying information and possession of CS-methamphetamine; and Seth Franklin Miller, 41, was placed on unsupervised probation with a no contact order for criminal trespass.  Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Organizers of the 'No Kings' protest secured a permit to gather at the state Capitol today + ND Highway Patrol said officers are preparing with local law enforcement for a peaceful demonstration. A separate 'No Kings' rally is scheduled today at Minot City Hall as part of nationwide events.  KFYR-TV
  • Emergency responders and airport officials at Minot International Airport conducted a full-scale exercise on Friday that simulated a commercial plane crash following a stray aircraft incident, involving about 60 volunteers and roughly 100 participants. The drill tested new radio systems—forcing staff to manage communication challenges—and led officials to practice closing the airport and updating the public under pressure.  Minot Daily News
