  • Jim Keller—the last charter member of Magic City Lions and the only inductee in the Lions Hall of Fame—has had his 56 years of service recorded in a tribute video led by club President Tracey Lawson. The video honors his long commitment to community service and preserves the legacy of Lionism for future generations.  Northern Sentry

  • Bishop Ryan Catholic School posted its Fourth Quarter Honor Roll to recognize students from sixth grade through seniors—listing awards for highest honors, high honors and honors. This release celebrates the hard work of many students during the quarter.  Northern Sentry

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, Hess Corp’s Job Experience Training interns joined 2,000 Trees for Minot and Minot Parks Forestry to plant 13 crabapple trees in Green Valley Park in southeast Minot—replacing trees lost in the 2011 flood and raising the park’s total to 14 varieties. City forester Troy Regstad said the effort is part of a plan to reach 2,000 trees in the city as residents add to their own plantings.  Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City engineer Lance Meyer said east-west traffic at the intersection of 16th Street and Burdick Expressway will reopen next month and crews are finishing the storm sewer project this week—then will start concrete pours later in June—to complete a reconstruction that will add new sidewalks, streetlights, better storm drainage and widened roads by mid-fall.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot AFB hosted a Military Affairs Committee luncheon on June 5 where military personnel met with local leaders — unit representatives provided mission updates and detailed roles in security and rescue operations. The event, organized by the Chamber Economic Development Corporation and the base, reinforced ongoing community and military ties.  Northern Sentry
  • The 5th Comptroller Squadron at Minot Air Force Base holds weekly training days for both military and civilian staff to boost financial readiness, with appointment-only office hours from 9 a.m. to noon and finance training from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The sessions meet mandatory contingency training requirements and fill knowledge gaps — a plan led by squadron leaders — to keep the team prepared for future missions.  Northern Sentry
