Representatives from North Dakota nonprofits gathered at the State Fair Center in Minot on June 3 and 4 to attend workshops, network with donor groups and recognize achievements including the Walt Odegaard Leadership Award.

The conference reinforced a shared commitment to community support amid funding and staffing challenges.

A flag-raising ceremony was held recently at Jim Rostad's home to honor his uncle, 2nd Lt. Arthur J.

Blackwood, a World War II soldier who earned the Purple Heart and Silver Star for his service. Local veterans (Minot Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4) led the event and shared a printed program of his wartime achievements.

The drone light show on May 29 and 30 lit up Magic City Discovery Center’s sky with 300 synchronized drones powered by a donation from the Aggie Foundation and Northern Lights Drone Shows.

It offered STEAM learning along with free and VIP viewing (special airport permits were secured).

A new organization for homeschool families has launched in Minot to plan landmark events—such as a spring formal for upper grades and graduation ceremonies set for spring 2027.

More events will be announced as the Minot Homeschool Events Association grows.

Starting Saturday, June 13, the Minot AFB Library will host its Summer Reading Program until Saturday, August 15, with a kick-off party at 1:00 p.m. featuring plant-themed crafts; participants of all ages can register at the library or online to earn reading bucks & prizes.

Rough Rider Golf Course near Minot Air Force Base offers a nine-hole course with a driving range, putting and chipping greens, and picnic amenities.

It runs until fall, operating Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to dusk and weekends from 8 a.m. to dusk — welcoming both public and base golfers.

Owen Sundahl pitched a complete-game shutout on Wednesday, June 3 at Jack Hoeven Park as the Metros defeated Beulah 7-0 in Game 1 before sweeping the series with a 15-9 win in Game 2 (his strong outing bolstered confidence in the season’s opening rotation).
