COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will lead a statewide motorcycle ride over June 12—13 that stops at all five SCHEELS locations, with Minot riders gathering at 9:30—11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 13 for a flag exchange event. Community members can join the ride and later attend the flag retirement ceremony in Fargo on June 14 at 2 p.m.  Minot Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Minot man charged for starting a fire in a vacant mobile home was sentenced on May 28 after pleading an Alford plea in North Central District Court — he must serve 25 days in Ward County Jail, complete one year of probation and pay $650 in court fines.  Minot Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local experienced crocheters from the Minot High School Magi Crochet Club and others will offer one-on-one crochet lessons at Scandinavian Heritage Park during the Midsummer Festival on Saturday, June 21 for people ages 6 and older. Classes will be scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 2:30, and 3 to 5 and will cost $30 with supplies or $25 without—donations to the Minot Area Homeless Coalition will reduce the fee by $1 per item, up to $5.  Minot Daily News
  • The Minot Symphony Orchestra will host its first Beat Beethoven 5K on Saturday, July 27 at 5:50 p.m. at Oak Park, inviting locals to walk, run or jog the course before the final note of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony sounds. Those finishing before the final note will earn the title Beat Beethoven and a free voucher for a select concert while others receive a $5 discount voucher and can join post-race recovery with food trucks and live music by Soulshine.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Minot Public Schools will auction seven portable classrooms starting Monday, June 9, as the district expansion has made them unnecessary. The online auction will close on June 19 and one unit at Jim Hill will be kept for athletic support—serving as storage and dressing rooms for physical education.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A U.S. Air Force B-52H Stratofortress assigned to the 23rd Expeditionary Bomb Squadron returned to Minot AFB on May 27 after leaving Moron Air Base in Spain—concluding its European deployment under Bomber Task Force 25-3.  Minot Daily News
  • Minot’s base efforts will receive $600,000 from the state in the next biennium as part of MACEDC’s 2026 budget request presented to the city council on Monday — the organization is also asking for $559,650 for economic development and workforce while other local agencies seek additional funds; the council will review these requests as it drafts the 2026 budget.  Minot Daily News

  • Deb Mathern (AARP volunteer) said clearing clutter from counters, kitchens and storage spaces helps lower stress and makes homes safer today.
