COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Roosevelt Park Pool will open on Friday, June 5 from noon to 8 p.m. The pool, a favorite summer spot, offers free entry for children (5 and under) and will update its park map to guide visitors through MI-6 and MI-7 construction.  Minot Daily News
  • Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 cancels DAV Coffee on June 3; on June 8 a lunch at Edgewood on 10th & a coffee & cookies discussion at 700 16th Ave SE, a lunch on June 9 at Somerset Court, and a breakfast on June 25 at Minot Lodge are scheduled.  Minot Daily News
  • Local community members dedicated the Master Sgt. Mark McCowan Memorial to honor 25 area service members who lost their lives, placing it near the high school in New Salem. Organizers invite residents to submit additional names (contact American Legion Post 91) to expand the tribute.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Minot Arts Council is expanding its 41st annual Sundays in the Park event starting Sunday, June 7 at Oak Park & featuring live music from local bands and booths by food and art vendors. The event will also showcase a downtown series on Thursdays at Citizens Alley.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Minot North High School today released its honor roll for the 2025-2026 second semester featuring Highest, High, and Honors distinctions for Grades 9 to 12 (highlighting top-performing students).  Minot Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The N.D. Department of Health and Human Services reported low influenza, COVID-19 and RSV activity in North Dakota for the week ending May 23. Influenza and RSV cases dropped to 40 and 27 respectively + COVID-19 cases saw a slight increase to 10.  Minot Daily News
  • Representatives from Nedrose Public School Health Council attended the 40th annual ND Roughrider Health Promotion Conference in Medora from May 26 to 29 to develop action plans for improving school and community health *for local benefit*. Sessions focused on coordinated school health and strategies to boost positive culture.  Minot Daily News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A $100 million, 146,200-sqft renovation and addition has been completed at 4 Bears Casino & Lodge on the western shore of Lake Sakakawea, west of New Town. The project replaced a 2-story hotel with a seven-story tower featuring 90 guest rooms, expanded gaming and dining areas, and more amenities.  Minot Daily News

  • After a two-week break, The Dakota Drive returned to feature local athletes. Mandan High’s Jack Tooke committed to UIC, 4Bears’ Rob Phinisee—2025 TBL Rookie—is set to host playoff games in New Town, and Tiyahna Trottier becomes Turtle Mountain’s first DI basketball player later this week.  KFYR-TV
