  • Donnybrook residents gathered Monday, May 25 for a Memorial Day ceremony sponsored by the Clarence McCormick Legion Post and Auxiliary to honor fallen soldiers — the event featured patriotic music, rifle fire, and Taps while retired Army National Guard Sgt. CULTURE NEWS

  • Throughout 2026, the ND250 Commission, administered by the State Historical Society, is hosting projects across the state to celebrate 250 years of American history by honoring agriculture and community cooperation. The initiative traces North Dakota’s legacy from early farming to modern cooperatives (and continues to inspire today's local spirit).  Minot Daily News

  • State education leaders are asking North Dakotans about classroom tech use in a survey open until Aug. 1 (it covers questions on device limits, home use and makeup days) to guide recommendations for the upcoming 2027 legislative session.  KFYR-TV
  • Emily How from NDSU Extension in Ward County explained how to build an olla using an unglazed clay pot that slowly waters raised beds planted with radishes and spinach when gardeners are away (using capillary action) to keep the soil moist.  Minot Daily News
  • Minot voters will elect two school board members on June 9; school board president Mitch Kraft and newcomer Matt Bianco face no competition. Kraft focuses on maintenance and teacher pay while Bianco, a twenty-four-year United States Air Force veteran, plans to balance the budget and boost school communication.  Minot Daily News

  • NDSU Extension advises Minot residents to wear rubber gloves & disinfect areas when mice are seen, as rodents can spread bacteria and rare hantavirus risks. The guidelines recommend using an EPA-registered disinfectant or diluted bleach and ventilating the space before cleaning.  Minot Daily News

  • Donny Schatz, a local racing icon, will race at Nodak Speedway this weekend with CJB Motorsports in his first Sprint car race in eight years. The grandstand opens Sunday at 4 p.m. for the Magic City Showdown.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot High girls’ tennis team won the NDHSAA Girls Tennis Team Dual State Tournament championship match—defeating Valley City Hi-Liners in Grand Forks on May 28; full details appear in the Minot Daily News.  Minot Daily News
  • North Dakota auto racer Donny Schatz said the death of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, who died from sepsis, is an eye-opener for the racing industry. He recalled Busch as one of the fiercest competitors and a lasting influence on racer health.  KFYR-TV
  • The Minot North Sentinels lost 4-5 to the West Fargo Horace Hawks at Corbett Field during Thursday's NDHSAA quarterfinal game on May 28. The Hawks advanced to the semifinals while the Sentinels played in the Loser-Out round on Friday at 11:30 a.m.  Minot Daily News
