- ➤ Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports will host its free 'Summer Sibshops' support group for children aged 7 to 12 who have siblings with a disability or developmental delay. The hour-long sessions will be held monthly this summer starting June 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Minot Family YMCA+with trained facilitators leading games, discussions and peer connections. KFYR-TV
- ➤ MACF continued its support for local veterans by awarding two grants — one from the Donald & Genevieve Roush Fund that sponsored the Western North Dakota Honor Flight’s Welcome Home Ceremony at Minot International Airport, and a $30,000 grant from the MACF Impact Fund to Community Action Partnership-Minot Region’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families program — to help aging veterans and those facing homelessness. - ➤ North Dakota's taxable sales and purchases in the first quarter of 2025 dropped by 1.53% from last year, totaling $5.65 billion (down from $5.74 billion) as reported by the State Tax Commission. Minot recorded a 6.7% decline while mining and gas extraction rose by 6.9%, highlighting mixed economic performance across regions. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Teachers from the Minot Public School District did not reach a contract agreement on Tuesday, so talks will continue today (meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Central Middle School). KFYR-TV

- ➤ On Tuesday, crews began reconstructing 16th Street SW from 18th Avenue to Burdick, closing it to through traffic and setting up a temporary connection on Cook Drive and 18th Street for neighborhood access. The project will widen the road to five lanes, add sidewalks and street lights, and install a two-tiered pond system for storm drainage — work that already includes pavement removal and upgrades to storm sewers in parts of Burdick. - ➤ Minot Park District will hold a half-cent sales tax election with early voting available today, tomorrow, Friday and Monday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ward County Administration Building (meeting rooms on the first floor) where absentee ballots can be requested; only city residents may vote, and election day is June 3 at the Minot Auditorium from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the same ID and address rules as a primary. - ➤ After nearly two months of a nationwide search, Minot will interview three police chief candidates (Michael Frye, Edward Orgon Jr. and Dale Plessas) today and host a public meet-and-greet at City Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Officials will then decide which candidate will lead a department that has faced many challenges in the past year. - ➤ North Dakota will raise the interstate speed limit to 80 mph on August 1 as officials note that many drivers already travel at that pace — ND Highway Patrol advises drivers to adjust their speed to match their comfort level and allow for longer stopping distances. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Local governments are preparing for new property tax rules after state lawmakers approved a tax relief plan during the legislative session — counties will face a 3% cap on yearly tax increases and voters may opt for an exemption. The plan is part of a two-year $20-billion state budget that allocates nearly $500 million from the Legacy Fund for tax relief. Minot Daily News
