  • Minot resident Kelly Beck was honored by DAV Chapter 4 on May 20 for donating handcrafted quilts that serve as cherished door prizes at its twice-monthly Coffee Socials. Officials presented her with a desk flag, service coin, and thank-you card to show their appreciation.  Minot Daily News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • C & C Tree and Snow Removal now offers tree trimming, stump grinding, and risk assessments as warmer weather drives landscaping work in Minot and nearby areas. Owner Cedric Smith advised homeowners to watch for power line interference and tree diseases, especially after the flood.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Joe Wiegand, known for his portrayal of Theodore Roosevelt in Medora, visited Western Plains Children's Choir in Minot as they prepare for Disney's Newsies Jr. running June 11 to 13 and shared advice + encouragement with the students.  KFYR-TV
  • Pro’s Pointers (30th Anniversary season) marks a long-held summer tradition that started in 1996; next week, hosts Candle and Timmerman will share fishing tips and water safety insights for viewers at Lake Audubon and other local spots.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • North Dakota State University Extension is hosting a fencing school event on June 10 (9 a.m.-3 p.m.) at the North Central Research Extension Center south of Minot. The program features classroom sessions and live demonstrations, and registration costs $20 including lunch.  Minot Daily News
  • Minot student Dylan Hawkins earned the Recognition of Excellence in Communication award at Dickinson State University for strong communication grades, and his skills are valued by local employers (a boost for his future). Minot’s Jacob Smestad graduated with a BA in Biblical and theological studies from Lee University on May 9.  Minot Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The North Dakota Water Education Foundation has scheduled five summer water tours to spotlight water challenges in Carrington, Watford City, Dickinson, Belcourt, and Bismarck. The tours run from June 30 to Aug. 12 and include transportation, lunch, materials, and a digital magazine subscription.  Minot Daily News
