COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Due to a mechanical failure, Minot Daily News has suspended its print edition for a third day. Staff are repairing equipment and print operations will resume when repairs are complete — the digital site remains open free of charge.  Minot Daily News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Today, SRT’s Board announced more than $4 million in capital credits will be returned to members, including a special $750,000 for its 75th anniversary. Members receiving $100+ will get mailed checks, while amounts under $100 will be credited to their bills, with credits in May and checks in early June.  Minot Daily News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • North Dakota’s oil and natural gas production increased in March, per the Director’s Cut on May 22, as oil rose to 1.142 million barrels per day while gas climbed 2.24% from February. Bakken and Three Forks formations led output, with McKenzie County supplying 31.8% of the state's oil.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • NDSU Extension will host a fencing school on June 10 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at North Central Research Extension Center where producers and landowners learn fencing laws, virtual fencing and other techniques. Attendees must RSVP for meals and pay a $20 fee.  KFYR-TV
  • Zeeland Public School has closed and students will join nearby schools next year while graduates remember its lasting impact. The change marks a new chapter for local families as they adjust to fresh education options.  KFYR-TV

  • Town and Country Credit Union in Minot was recognized at a recent Dakota Credit Union Association summit for its social media campaign (targeted at credit unions with assets over $126 million), earning a marketing and communication award.  Minot Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services data shows influenza and COVID-19 cases decreased while RSV cases increased slightly for the week ending May 16. Officials say overall respiratory virus levels remain low and the report is preliminary.  Minot Daily News
  • FirstLink is offering free safeTALK Suicide Alertness Training on Friday, Jun. 5, from 1-4 p.m. at Minot Public Library (516 2nd Ave. SW). Participants will learn to recognize warning signs and connect to support in this approved three-hour session sponsored by ND Department of Health and Human Services.  Minot Daily News

  • Minot Magicians won the WDA Baseball Championship this weekend after overcoming teams that swept them in the regular season & they will face West Fargo Sheyenne in the state tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, May 28.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot High’s Majettes will face West Fargo Sheyenne in the state tournament quarterfinals Thursday, May 28, at 6:45 p.m. at Sanford Sports Complex in Bismarck — coach Matt Pfau said the team will rely on its strong defense and experienced seniors.  Minot Daily News
